Chicks

Jerome, Arizona

We were exploring the Gold King Mine in Jerome when I saw these unexpected occupants. To many, the site of a mother hen and her chicks is not a particularly unusual sight. But to me, a city-dweller with a small-town heart, I found this little chicken family absolutely adorable.

There is even a donkey named Pedro, guardian of the ghost town, but alas, he had gone wandering around looking for lady donkeys that day. I will meet him next time.

It’s the little things in life, isn’t it?

thank you – the photographs are so special! And you are right – it is the small and mundane that leads us to the sacred … not that you put it that way but hat is how I see it. Thank you for your post.
